One of the most imposing Gothic churches in Cho Lon, home to one of the City's oldest parishes
On Tran Binh Trong Street, Cho Quan Church is a Gothic church regarded as the most majestic and imposing in the Cho Lon area and one of the largest churches in the City. The current building was started in 1885 and inaugurated on 16 February 1896 (the year of Binh Than), through the efforts of priests Nicolas Hamm, Jules Errard and Lucien Mossard. Cho Quan is one of the oldest parishes of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City: the first simple chapel was built by Catholics who came from the North and Central regions in the late 17th century, the parish was officially established in 1723, and the present church is the eighth built on this site. The church grounds cover more than 16,000 m²; the parish has a room displaying artefacts on the parish's history. Sunday Masses are at 5:00, 6:30, 8:00, 16:30 and 18:00; Monday to Saturday at 5:00 and 17:30. When visiting, dress modestly and keep quiet, especially during Mass.
