Discover the history and culture of Binh Duong through more than 22,000 objects, from prehistoric traces to the traditional crafts of this land.

History and development The Binh Duong Provincial Museum was established in 1976 and later given new premises at its present address, inaugurated on 22 December 2004. Through collecting, conservation and research it has become a place that presents the history and culture of the Binh Duong region in a fairly comprehensive way. Since 1 July 2025 Binh Duong has been incorporated into Ho Chi Minh City. The museum still keeps the name Binh Duong Provincial Museum and now belongs to the cultural administration of Ho Chi Minh City. Collection and displays The display area of about 2,000 sq m presents the history of Binh Duong through 8 themes, from natural history and prehistory to the clearing of land and founding of villages, and on to the periods of resistance, development and integration. A separate theme introduces the traditional crafts, allowing visitors to learn more about the daily life and production of local people. The museum currently holds 3 national treasures: the Doc Chua animal figurine, the Phu Chanh wooden jar burial with a bronze drum lid, and the Phu Chanh set of wooden weaving tools. Outdoors, an area for large objects displays vehicles and military equipment such as a helicopter, a tank and cannons. Highlights - Traces from more than 2,000 years ago: the Doc Chua animal figurine, a national treasure of the Dong Nai culture, reveals the mark left by ancient inhabitants of the southeastern region. - A jar burial with a bronze drum lid: the Phu Chanh wooden jar burial is an exceptional archaeological object linked to an important discovery in the land of Binh Duong. - Weaving tools of ancient inhabitants: 23 wooden objects that show traces of weaving techniques and the craft life of people of long ago. - Binh Duong across 2,000 years: from archaeology and craft villages to the war years, the museum tells the story of this land through many layers of history. Good to know - The museum has both indoor spaces and an outdoor area, so allow enough time if you want to see everything. - There are hands-on traditional craft activities: depending on the exhibition season, the museum may organise practical sessions such as making pottery, wooden clogs and rice paper, so visitors can learn a traditional trade first-hand rather than only looking at objects. - The hands-on programme may change from one exhibition season to another: check the programme before you come if you would like to take part. Visitor information - Admission to the museum is free. - Please contact the museum in advance if you wish to visit on Saturday or Sunday.
