A tavern-style bar in memory of Michael Keung, who died in 2013
Dailos is a tavern-style bar run by Eric Tang, a Singaporean, and Patrick Keung, from Hong Kong. Both keep their daytime jobs and only mind the bar at night. The place is a memorial to Michael Keung, who opened The Gecko Bar in 1997, The Underground in 2000 and then Red Bar, and who was part of Saigon's nightlife for the Chinese community and for foreign guests for sixteen years, until his death in 2013. Three portraits of him hang in the bar, covered with signatures from friends everywhere. The kitchen is Southeast Asian and East Asian: Singapore-style Hokkien mee, char kway teow, Filipino sisig, crispy pata and Taiwanese beef noodles. What Eric adds to most of the dishes is fried pork fat that he makes himself. The bar has a billiards table, a dart machine, a wooden counter and live music played by Filipino performers.
