Kim Dinh is a place settled by farmers of northern origin who moved here in the middle of the 20th century (1954-1975), bringing traditional flower and vegetable growing with them. Each year, around the twelfth lunar month, dozens to more than a hundred households plant large chrysanthemums, crystal chrysanthemums, marigolds and other flowers, adjusting electric lighting and the amount of watering so that the blooms open in time for the Lunar New Year. Alongside this, vegetable growing on the sandy soil beside the Mui Dui River continues, supplying short-cycle vegetables to the local market and to Ho Chi Minh City.
